Details
John Gunn Roberts, also known as Iain Roberts, received his medical education at Glasgow University, graduating in 1934, and passed the Fellowship in 1955. After a period as assistant in the surgical unit at the Welsh National School of Medicine, he moved to London and became senior registrar and later consultant in the neurosurgical unit at the Central Middlesex Hospital, and during the second world war he served as a Major in the RAMC and as a neurosurgical specialist. In later years he was a clinical teacher at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School and became consultant in neurosurgery at the Central Middlesex Hospital, at the Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, at St Vincent's Orthopaedic Hospital, Pinner, and at Windsor Hospital, and to the North West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board. In the notice of his death in the *Daily Telegraph* he is referred to as Rev John Gunn, but the fact that he was in Holy Orders is not recorded in the entries for him in the *Medical Directory* and *Medical Register*. He died on 21 February 1988, survived by his wife, Joan.
