Appacutty Sinnatamby qualified in medicine in Ceylon and became a medical officer in the Colonial Medical Service. He became a Fellow of the College in 1948 and lived in London for some years before returning to Colombo where he became Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Ceylon.
He had been retired for some time when he died on 1 March 1986.
