Details
David Bowen Morgan Williams was born in Cardiff on 6 November 1930 and after early education at Epsom College entered the University of Wales in 1946. He graduated as Bachelor of Science in 1950 and qualified three years later. Despite having had a mid-thigh amputation in adolescence he was determined to pursue a career in surgery. He carried out pre-registration appointments in Cardiff before coming to London as casualty officer to the West London Hospital, Hammersmith in 1954. Returning to Cardiff as surgical registrar he passed the FRCS in 1957. In 1959 he left Cardiff and emigrated to Australia where he joined a surgical practice at Dandenong in Victoria. He passed the FRACS in 1975 and died on 28 October 1986, aged 55.
