Moham Eldin was born on 15 September 1908 in Egypt, where his father, Hassan Ein Mohammed, was a palace official. He graduated from Cairo Medical School in 1932, and came to London in 1936 to study for the fellowship. During the war he worked at St Mary's Hospital in London, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital; he also held posts in Edinburgh. He became a British subject in 1948. He obtained the Fellowship in 1942, and in 1950 was appointed consultant surgeon to Greenwich and Deptford Hospital, where he remained until his retirement in 1973. A committed and enthusiastic surgeon, he enjoyed a reputation for meticulousness, and continued to undertake locum work for five years after his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed walking, swimming, skating and skiing. He died on 2 September 1991, survived by his wife Gabrielle, née Berdach, a retired nursing sister whom he married in April 1974.
