Details
Rothwell Alan Hill was born in 1920 and qualified in medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1942. He was appointed resident medical officer at St Vincent's Hospital and then joined the Royal Australasian Air Force in 1943 as a medical officer. After the war he returned to St Vincent's Hospital in 1946 and also took up a post as RMO at the Austin Hospital. He travelled to England in 1951 to study for his Fellowship at Guy's. After gaining his FRCS in 1951 he took up a registrar post at the London Chest Hospital from 1952 to 1953. Returning to Melbourne he became staff specialist at St Vincent's Hospital from 1954 to 1956 and staff specialist at Prince Henry's Hospital from 1956 to 1959. During the 1960's and 70's he divided his time between the St Vincent's Hospital and the Royal Victoria Hospital in Melbourne. He died on 29 November 1992.
