Details
After qualifying MB BS with honours at Adelaide University in 1946 and a house appointment there, McCann served as a medical officer with the Australian forces in Japan in 1947-8. Coming to Britain in 1949 he held several junior posts before taking his Fellowship in 1951, and then was a registrar at the Royal Free Hospital, London, from 1952 to 1956. Returning to Australia he was staff specialist at Prince Henry's Hospital, Melbourne from 1956 to 1983 and was a consultant at that hospital from 1984. He died in 1992.
