Neri qualified MB BS at Madras University in 1945 and was resident medical officer at Madras General Hospital from 1945 to 1947. Coming to Britain, he held house posts at the Weston-super-Mare Hospital and at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, before becoming a registrar at Whipps Cross Hospital. After passing the Fellowship he spent a year as registrar in thoracic surgery at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, before moving to Australia, where he was a consultant at the Hawera Hospital, Hawera from 1958 to 1964. He was a consultant at the Ballarat Base Hospital from 1970 to 1982, and a consultant in Melbourne from 1982. He died on 19 April 1995.
