Details
Raymond Victor Rickard received his medical education at the University of Sydney, qualifying MB ChM in 1924. He appears to have practised at Kingaroy, Queensland, before coming to Britain in 1930 and obtaining house posts at Nottingham, Norwich and at the West London Hospital. After obtaining the Fellowship and returning to Australia he became a medical superintendent at the Kingaroy District Hospital from 1935 to 1946. From 1941 to 1945 he served in the Royal Australasian Army Medical Corps at the 12th and 103rd Australian General Hospitals and the 106 casualty clearing station. Returning to civilian life he practised at Paramatta and Fairfield and was honorary surgeon to Paramatta Hospital from 1948 to 1963 and to the Fairfield District Hospital from 1956. He died on 22 June 1991.
