Details
Born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada, on 19 May 1920, Allin Herbert Moore studied medicine at the University of Manitoba. After internships at the Vancouver General Hospital, he served as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps at Shaughnessy Military Hospital. Following the war he specialised in surgery, and in 1948 went to England to study for the FRCS. After getting both the English and Edinburgh Fellowships, he returned to Vancouver in 1952, where he became a partner in the Seymour Medical Clinic, practising surgery at the Mount St Joseph Hospital, where he later became chief of staff. He was a consultant at the G F Strong Rehabilitation Centre in Vancouver and the Workers' Compensation Board of British Columbia, and was director and later Chairman of the British Columbia Paraplegic Association. He married Nora Alice née Flynn, and had four sons, Tracy Allin, Steven Francis, Jeffrey Rodd and Michael John, and ten grandchildren. He was a keen gardener, an avid golfer, and a popular member of the Point Grey Golf and Country Club. He died on 15 January 1999 in Vancouver.
