Details
Geoffrey Myers was born on 24 January 1908. He passed the FRCS in 1937 and, during the second world war served with both the RAMC and the NZMC. He spent his career in general surgery working for such organisations as the United Fruit Company Inc. and the North and West Africa Socony Mobil Oil Company Inc. He retired in 1976 and went to live in Andorra where he kept up his interests in the English language, linguistics and lexicography, and completed a '*Dictionary of Anglo-American homophones*'. He was an honorary member of the Bermuda Medical Society. He died, aged 94, on 30 January 2002 while travelling in New Zealand. He was predeceased by his wife, May and survived by his children, Pamela, Rosalie and Anthony; grandchildren Lucy, Kate, Andrew, Adrian and Nicholas; and great grandchildren Georgia, Oscar and Oliver.
