Details
David Sandell qualified in Manitoba in 1922, where he won the gold medal for his MD. He then came to England to specialise in surgery and worked in Manchester and Guy's Hospital before passing the FRCS in 1931. He was appointed registrar to the National Temperance Hospital and clinical assistant at St Mark's. During the second world war he served as a surgical specialist in the RAMC rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war he was appointed consultant surgeon to the National Temperance Hospital. He was Chairman of the Chelsea and Fulham Division of the BMA. He married Jessie and had a son, Robert, and daughter, Jennifer. He died on 8 February 1998, survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, Adam and Alexandra.
