Details
Arthur Siddons was a consultant thoracic surgeon at St George's Hospital in London. He was born on 17 January 1911 in Harrow, Middlesex, and was sent to Harrow School. He went on to Jesus College, Cambridge, and then to St George's Hospital, where he qualified in 1935. In 1941, he was appointed as a temporary surgeon at St George's. From 1942 he was a surgical specialist in the RAFVR. Following demobilisation, he returned to St George's, specialising in cardiothoracic surgery. He was a member of the Court of Examiners at the College from 1958 to 1964 and wrote articles on pulmonary surgery and on cardiac pacemakers. He married Eleanor Mary née Oliver and they had a son and daughter. Mountains, dinghy sailing and travel were among his favourite pastimes. His death was reported to the College by the Royal College of Physicians as having occurred prior to April 2003.
