Details
Frederick Neil Street was born in Sydney on 19 June 1916. He was educated at Sydney Boys' High School and Sydney University, where he graduated with second class honours. He then did a year as resident medical officer at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, before joining the RAAMC in 1940. He was posted to 2/1st Field Ambulance, and served in the Middle East, New Guinea and Europe, winning the Military Cross. After the war, he did registrar posts at the Middlesex and Guy's Hospital from 1945 to 1946. He returned to Sydney as an honorary assistant surgeon to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children and Renwick Hospital in 1951. In 1974, he moved to Orange to be medical superintendent of the Base Hospital. He married Maud Langhorne, by whom he had three children. He died on 31 May 2001.
