Born in 1871 he was educated at St Thomas's Hospital taking first-class honours in surgery at the University of London BS examination in 1894 and passing the final FRCS examination on 23 November 1894, at the age of 23. He practised at Charterhouse in the City of London, and died on 5 January 1956 aged 84.
