The son of John Symonds, a surgeon-apothecary of Oxford. He came of a medical stock, and was the sixth generation of a line of doctors. Studied at the London Hospital and at Bristol Hospital. He first practised at 16 Dorset Terrace, Clapham Road, London, SW, where he was Surgeon to the County Gaol. He then practised at 28 Brunswick Road, Hove, Brighton, where he died in retirement on March 8th, 1889.

Was at one time Medical Officer to the Bloomsbury Dispensary. He died at his house, 3 Lamb's Conduit Place, Brunswick Square, on September 24th, 1855.

After studying at St Bartholomew's Hospital and in Paris, practised in Guilford Street, Bloomsbury, and was Medical Officer attending the Foundling Hospital. He retired to 12 Onslow Gardens, Brompton, and died in 1869.

Practised in Burlington Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester. He was Surgeon to the Female Penitentiary and to Henshaw's Blind Asylum. He died at 242 Oxford Street, Manchester, in 1884.
