Entered the Army as Surgeon's Mate, unattached, on December 19th, 1811. In May, 1813, he became Hospital Assistant, and on June 3rd, 1813, was gazetted Assistant Surgeon to the 40th Foot. Educated at Guy's Hospital. He practised throughout at Barnstaple, where he was Surgeon, and at the time of his death Consulting Surgeon, to the North Devon Infirmary. He died on January 21st, 1886.

Practised at Rochdale, Lancashire, and died there on October 23rd, 1874.
