Studied at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He practised first at Bala, then at Corwen, Merionethshire, where he was Surgeon to the Royal Denbigh and Merioneth Militia and JP for the County of Merioneth. He died at Corwen on April 1st, 1886.

He was at one time Surgeon to the Royal Portsmouth, Portsea, and Gosport Hospital, the Rutland Club, and at the time of his death was Medical Officer to the Portsmouth, Portsea, and Southsea Union House.
