Details
One of the first surgeons appointed to the Sussex County Hospital at Brighton, his colleagues being Robert Taylor (q.v.) and John Lawrence (q.v.). He was Surgeon to the Royal Family, and received £300 a year for attending the household at the Pavilion. He vaccinated King Edward VII and the Princess Royal, afterwards the German Empress, and from them inoculated two of his own grandchildren. He also attended Mrs Fitzherbert and was one of the witnesses to a codicil of her will. The first three Surgeons to the Sussex County Hospital resigned on the same day and were succeeded by the first three House Surgeons – Benjamin Vallance (q.v.), E J Turner (q.v.), and John Lawrence, junr. Harry Blaker died on or before April 27th, 1846.
