Details
Peter Napier Robson was a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle. He was born in Newcastle on 5 November 1923, the son of Hubert Napier Robson, a company director, and Isabella Alice Robson née Thompson, the daughter of a master mariner. He attended preparatory school at Seascale, Cumberland, and then Shrewsbury School. He went on to study medicine at King's College, University of Durham, qualifying in 1946. He was a house surgeon and a senior registrar at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, before he was appointed as a consultant. He listed John Brumwell and C G Irwin as surgeons who had influenced him during his training. Outside medicine, he enjoyed yachting and was interested in marine biology. In 1950 he married Jacqueline Elliot, who also qualified MB BS. They had two daughters. He died on 22 January 2008, aged 84.
