Eufrasio Bengoechea Gonzalez was a vascular and transplant surgeon from Toledo, Spain. He specialised in surgery in the UK, becoming a fellow of the Edinburgh college in 1961 and of the English college in 1962. For the next 10 years he worked in Northampton, Nottingham, Chester, Liverpool and Tulane Hospital, New Orleans, before returning to Spain as chief of surgery at the Hospital Virgen de la Salud in Toledo. He was also a consultant in surgery to the US Air Force at Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid. He published some 30 papers, mostly in English-speaking journals, on vascular and transplant surgery.
