Details
Was a student at St George's Hospital, where he took the unusual course of graduating MB in 1852 and passing the MRCS and FRCS together two years later. During the Crimean War he was Assistant Surgeon to the Civil Hospital in Smyrna. He returned to London, was at one time Demonstrator of Anatomy at St George's and at St Mary's Hospitals; he was also a member of the Pathological and Harveian Societies. He practised successively at 15 Charles Street, Westbourne Terrace; 83 Mortimer Road, St John's Wood; 4 Blenheim Villas, Abbey Road, St John's Wood; 86 Great Western Road, Westbourne Park; and finally at 150 Victoria Dock Road, where he died in 1895. Publications: "Pathology of Fractures" in the 1st and 2nd editions of Holmes's *System of Surgery*. This article was replaced by W H A Jacobson's in the 3rd edition of the *System* by Holmes and Hulke. Reports on Anatomy and Physiology in the *Quart Jour Med*, 1858.
