Details
George Haines Dickson was born on 18 June 1936. He studied medicine at London University and trained at St Mary’s Hospital, graduating MB, BS in 1959. In 1964 he passed both the fellowship of the college and of the Edinburgh College of Surgeons. After house jobs at St Mary’s he was appointed consultant surgeon to the Worthing and Southland group of hospitals. A surgical tutor at the college, he was a member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, the British Association of Surgical Oncologists, and the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. After suffering for some years with Parkinson’s disease, he died on 27th January 2019 aged 82. He was survived by his wife Mary and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
