Details
Archibald Edmund Carter was a consultant surgeon at Ealing Hospital, London. He studied medicine at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and qualified in 1945 with honours in surgery. He gained his FRCS in 1947. Prior to his consultant appointment, he was a surgical registrar at the Royal Northern Hospital, London, a surgical first assistant at the London Chest Hospital and a senior surgical registrar at St Mary’s Hospital, London. He also spent a period in the mid 1950s in the department of surgery, Harvard Medical School and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston. He was a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and of the Medical Society of London. Carter died on 28 June 2019.
