Details
Richard Loxton Rothwell-Jackson, known as *Rex*, studied medicine at Cambridge University graduating in the mid-1950’s, and trained at St Bart’s Hospital in London. After doing house jobs in London at Bart’s and the North Middlesex Hospital, he travelled to the USA, working as a Fulbright scholar and research fellow at the University of Colorado Research Centre. He passed the fellowship of the college in 1960. On his return he continued his association with Bart’s, working in the gastroenterology department before being appointed consultant general surgeon to the Luton and Dunstable General Hospital. He was the author of several important papers on gastroenterological issues. He died in Crediton, Devon on 20 March 2020 aged 90 and was survived by his brother Christopher, niece Rebeccah and her family.
