Stuart John Birtwistle (Birty) was born on 2 December 1961. He studied medicine in Dundee and graduated MB, ChB in 1988. He passed the fellowship of the college in 1992 and worked for the NHS as an orthopaedic surgeon in Leicester for over 30 years.
He died on 13 June 2020 aged 60 years, survived by his wife Alison and his children, Laura and Joseph.
