:
Hedley Edward Berry was born on 30 September 1936 and educated at Wolverhampton Grammar School. He studied medicine at London University and trained at King’s College Hospital, graduating MB, BS in 1960. Passing the fellowship of the college in 1964, he was appointed a consultant surgeon at King’s where he stayed for most of his career. He died suddenly at home in Beckenham, Kent on 27 February 2021, aged 84, and was survived by his wife, Anne, a retired general practitioner.
