Details
Terence Ignatius English was a consultant in oral surgery at the London Hospital. He was born in Cork in 1930. His mother’s maiden name was O’Brien. He studied medicine at the National University of Ireland in Cork, qualifying with his MB BCh BAO in 1954. He gained his bachelor of dental surgery degree four years later, in 1958. He became a fellow of the faculty of dental surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1964 and of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1966. Prior to his consultant appointment, he was a registrar in the plastic and jaw centre, Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, a senior registrar at the Royal Dental Hospital, London, and a joint senior registrar in the department of oral surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital. English died in 2003.
