Eric Alfred Edgeworth Hedberg was a general surgeon in Sydney, New South Wales. He was born in Sydney on 1 October 1912, the son of John Alfred Hedberg and Ella Claire Hedberg née Page. He studied medicine at the University of Sydney, qualifying in 1926. He gained his fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1938 and set up in Macquarie Street, Sydney as a surgeon. During the Second World War he served in the Australian Army in the Second Australian Imperial Force. In 1947 he married Dorothy Joyce Russell Jean Maclean (née Finlayson). She died on 14 April 1960. In May 1964 he married Diana Yeates, the widow of James Yeates, a surgeon colleague who was murdered on 15 September 1960 by the injection of adrenaline into his heart. Hedberg died on 29 May 2001 in Bowral, New South Wales. He was 88.
