Born March 2nd, 1818; educated at St Bartholomew's and St George's Hospitals and at Paris. Joined the Cape Mounted Riflemen as Assistant Surgeon, June 30th, 1843, and served in the field with this regiment during the Kaffir War of 1846-1847 (medal). He joined the Staff on Jan 12th, 1849, was transferred to the 6th Foot on March 16th, and to the 3rd Dragoon Guards on April 25th, 1851. He was promoted Staff Surgeon (2nd Class), March 28th, 1854, rejoining the Dragoons May 12th, 1854. Surgeon Major, 3rd Dragoon Guards, June 30th, 1863. He was again placed on the Staff on March 13th, 1866, and was transferred to the 7th Dragoon Guards on Aug 7th, 1867. He retired on half pay with the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Hospitals, July 31st, 1869, and died at Welbourn Hall, Grantham, Lincolnshire, on March 17th, 1893.
