Details
Educated at King’s College and Guy’s Hospital, and practised at Ashton-under-Lyne, where at the time of his death he was Consulting Surgeon to the Infirmary and Surgeon to the 4th Battalion Cheshire Rifle Volunteers. He was JP for the Counties of Chester and Lancaster and the City of Manchester. He was the author of a number of articles on Government Reports which appeared in the Transactions of the Manchester Statistical Society, Manchester, 1863. For the Holbein Society he also edited several important reproductions: *Theatrum Mulierum*, *Quatuor Evangel*. (Arab. et Lat.), Burgmair’s *Triumph of the Emperor Maximilian*, and Caxton’s *Golden Legend*, with Memoir.
