Details
Edwin Nicholas Owen (known as 'Tim') was a consultant ENT surgeon for the Shrewsbury Group of Hospitals. He studied medicine at Liverpool University, qualifying in 1938 with the conjoint diploma and the MB BS. Prior to his consultant appointment, he was a registrar in the ENT department, Charing Cross Hospital, and at the Pigott-Wernher Deafness Research Unit, London, and first assistant in the deafness aid clinic at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital. He was a member of the British Association of Otolaryngologists. He was co-founder and president of the Shropshire Deaf Children's Society and was awarded an MBE in 2001 for his work for the charity. Predeceased by his wife Jean (née Rennie), Owen died on 29 March 2005. He was 90.
