Details
Educated at Guy's Hospital, and joined his father, Edmund J Galton, LSA, in practice at Brixton Hill. He passed the Fellowship when in full local work, and showed his activity in a variety of ways outside his professional duties. An admirable public speaker, he was a staunch fighting Conservative in politics, gave political addresses to working men, and was for many years Chairman of the Streatham and Herne Hill Constitutional Association. His political knowledge gave him great influence on the Parliamentary Bills Committee of the British Medical Association, at the branch meetings of which he was a constant attendant. He was for thirty years surgeon to the City of London School. He died of influenza on March 26th, 1898, and was buried in Norwood Cemetery. At the time of his death he was Surgeon to the City of London Orphan School and to the City Almshouses, Brixton, and resided at Springfield House, Brixton Hill, SW.
