Details
Born on September 29th, 1788. On January 25th, 1814, he was appointed from Ensign (May 13th, 1811) and Surgeon's Mate, 2nd West Riding York Militia, to be Ensign and Surgeon's Mate, 3rd Provisional Battalion of Militia, and on the reduction of that battalion in the same year was placed on half pay until June 25th, 1816, when he was commissioned as Assistant Surgeon to the Royal Military Asylum, Southampton. On March 25th, 1819, he was transferred to the Royal Military Asylum, Chelsea, and became Surgeon to the Asylum on July 24th, 1828. He resigned on August 1st, 1848. His death occurred at his residence in St Barnabas Terrace during 1860. His name is often spelt wrongly as LAWRENCE in old *London Gazettes*, etc.
