Details
Educated at University College Hospital, he served as a clinical assistant at Moorfields Ophthalmic Hospital. Most of his life was spent in practice at Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand, where he was resident surgeon in sole charge of the Timaru Hospital. During the war of 1914-18 he served as a Captain in the RAMC, returning afterwards to Timaru. Subsequently he was for some years in the 1920s and 1930s resident medical officer and magistrate in the Chatham Islands, South Pacific. He retired to Geraldine, New Zealand, where he died about 1947. Publications: Ovariotomy. *Austral med Gaz* 1887. Hydatid of the kidney and of the lung, operation, recovery. *NZ med J* 1901. Continuous drainage in spinal meningitis. *Brit med J* 1917, 1, 223. Intra-spinal pressure in acute diseases. *Brit med J* 1918, 2, 592. Trephining: five consecutive cases, recovery from compound fracture. *NZ med J* 1926, 25, 14.
