Details
Born in London on 8 August 1870, the son of C H Drake, Courtenay Drake was educated at Marlborough College, where he was captain of the Gym VIII, and at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He qualified in 1894, won honours in obstetrics at the London MB examination 1896, and took the Fellowship in 1897. After a house surgeoncy at St Bartholomew's he settled in practice at Streatham, in partnership with Leedham Fuller, MRCS 1878, and was later joined by C E Fenn MRCS 1898. Drake and his wife lived for some time at 5 Palace Mansions, Palace Street, London SWI, but retired about 1935 to Rathgar Cottage, Pangbourne, near Reading, Berkshire. He died in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex on 20 December 1966, aged 96, survived by children and grandchildren. He was the senior Fellow at that time.
