Details
Raymond Lovitt was born in Wollongong, New South Wales, on 18 March 1947, the only child of Ernest John Albert Lovitt, an accountant, and Joy Lovitt née Mackenzie, a nurse. He was the first son of Ernest John Albert Lovitt, an accountant. He was educated at Brisbane State High School and the University of Queensland, graduating MB BS in 1970. He held a resident post at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, and was registrar for three years at the Cairn's Hospital, Queensland. He came to England and worked at the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells. He married a Miss Pala in 1972 and they had two children. His hobbies were squash, golf and bridge. He died on 16 April 1982 aged just 35. **This is an amended version of the original obituary which was printed in volume 6 of Plarr’s Lives of the Fellows.
