Details
Huw Owen Thomas was an orthopaedic surgeon at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals on the Wirral. He was born in 1941 into a medical family. He gained his MB BCh in Cardiff in 1966 and was a house surgeon in the accident unit at Cardiff Royal Infirmary. He went on to train in orthopaedic surgery in Liverpool, as his father had done before him. He was a senior registrar and senior lecturer in orthopaedics at Liverpool Royal Infirmary and Wrightington Hospital, Appley Bridge. He also spent some time as a captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Outside medicine, he was interested in classical music. Huw Owen Thomas died on 4 January 2015. He was survived by his widow, Judith (who is also a doctor), two sons and a granddaughter.
