Details
Ian Howard Ogilvy was resident junior medical officer at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 1943 and progressed to senior medical officer and then to assistant surgeon in 1952. He was honorary surgeon to the Austin Hospital and the Footscray and District Hospital from 1952 to 1957, assistant surgeon at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne 1952-57 and the Royal Children's Hospital 1953-58, and from 1957 to 1972 honorary surgeon to outpatients at the Alfred Hospital. During this time he held various posts at the University of Melbourne, becoming clinical supervisor 1948-50, lecturer in pathology in 1952 and demonstrator in surgery. He served in the RAAF in the second world war with the rank of Flight Lieutenant. He was Gordon Craig Research Scholar of the RACS in 1950 and was a member of the AMA. He died on 19 August 1980 at Melbourne.
