Details
John Dixon Glanville was a consultant ENT surgeon for the Salisbury group of hospitals and Swindon and district hospitals. He was born on 15 January 1922. His father, Walter Josolyne Glanville, was an officer in the Army; his mother was Kathleen Glanville née Dixon. His older brother, Hugh Josolyne Glanville, became a consultant in physical medicine in Salisbury. Glanville studied at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and qualified in 1945. Prior to his consultant appointments, he was an ENT house surgeon at St Mary’s, a registrar for the Bristol United Hospitals and a senior registrar in the ENT department at the Royal Free Hospital. He gained his diploma in otorhinolaryngology in 1952 and his FRCS in 1953. In 1955, he married Elizabeth Marjorie James. She predeceased him in 1996. John Dixon Glanville died on 22 December 2016. He was 94.
