Details
Jacob Zimmerman qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1943. He was a foundation member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, a Fellow of the New York Academy of Science and an Hunterian Professor of our College in 1966. He was an assistant Professor of Anatomy and Surgery at the New York Medical College, and had been an adjunct in surgery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He was attending surgeon at St Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York, before going to Tel Aviv to be Professor of Anatomy. He published extensively on the relief of mitral stenosis and the fibrous skeleton of the heart. He died in 1997.
