Details
After receiving his medical education at University College Hospital Medical School and at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School, Hugh Elwyn James qualified with the Conjoint Diploma in 1927 and graduated MB, BS in 1929. He received his FRCS in 1931 and also became a member of Gray's Inn. In the second world war he served as a Major in the RAMC and became a neurological specialist. Thereafter he practised in Swansea and was for many years chairman of the Industrial Injuries Board. His name disappears from both the *Medical Register* and the *Medical Directory* after 1974, presumably he was living in retirement thereafter until his death, which occurred in September 1987. He was survived by his wife Susan.
