Details
Noel Desmond Sherson was a general surgeon in Melbourne, Australia. He was born on 26 February 1936 in Geelong, Victoria, the only child of Charles Stanley Sherson, a coach builder, and Ella Myrtle Sherson née Wilson. He attended Geelong College, where he was *dux* of the school in 1954. He went on to study medicine at Ormond College, University of Melbourne. He qualified in 1960. At the Royal Melbourne Hospital, University of Melbourne, he was a lecturer in anatomy and a tutor in surgery. He was also a prosector in anatomy at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In 1967, he gained his FRCS and FRACS. Outside medicine he enjoyed photography and the study of wine (oenology). In 1966, he married Susan Richards Terry. They had a son, Benjamin Charles, who predeceased him, and a daughter. Noel Sherson died on 23 February 2007 at the age of 70.
