Jonathan Mark Hanson was a consultant in general and colorectal surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. He graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle in 1992 and passed the fellowship of the college in 1998. As well as his work at the hospital, he also ran a private medical practice. He died in 2020 in his 52nd year.
