Details:
Walter Levy was an ophthalmologist in New Mexico, USA. He was born in Pretoria, South Africa on 17 May 1927, the son of Morris and Lillian Levy. He went to the UK to study surgery and gained his FRCS in 1956.
He emigrated to the United States in 1966, was naturalised two years later and served the communities of northern New Mexico as an ophthalmologist for 35 years. He was a member of the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners and was a former president of the New Mexico Medical Society.
Outside medicine he enjoyed skiing, golfing, playing squash and tennis and flying.
Predeceased by his wife Amneris (Neri) Giacomina, Levy died on 1 February 2012 at the age of 84 and was survived by their three sons – Larry, Kevin and Renny – and their families.
