Details:
John Mainwaring Laughton was born on 21 September 1938 in Plymouth, the son of Frederick Earlfield Laughton, a civil servant, and his wife, Kathleen Dorothy. After being educated at Plymouth College, he studied medicine at London University and trained at the London Hospital, graduating MB, BS in 1964. He passed the fellowship of the college in 1970 and became a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.
On 21 January 1942 he married Glenis and they had two daughters, Claire Elizabeth (born on 5 March 1971) and Sally Anne (born on 18 July 1973). He died on 2 August 2021 aged 82.
