Harry Donald ‘Don’ Glenwright was head of periodontology at the University of Birmingham. He was born in 1934 to Harry Glenwright and Minnie Glenwright née Robinson. He gained his fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1963. He became head of the periodontology department at Birmingham. As chair (assistant director) of the curriculum development committee, he was responsible for developing a new curriculum for dental students. He was president of the British Society of Periodontology from 1980 to 1981. He retired in 1997 to spend time with his family and to garden. He developed oesophageal cancer and died in 2012. He was survived by his widow Gill (née Thacker), daughter Katie, son Robert and his granddaughter Jess.
