Christopher Hogg was an orthodontist in Edgware, London. He was born on 23 August 1958. He gained his fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1992 and a diploma in orthodontics in 1994. In 2000 one of his photographs was highly commended in the national science photographic competition Visions of Science, organised by Novartis and *The Daily Telegraph*. Four years later he wrote an article in the *Annals* on ‘Preparing digital images for publication’ (*Ann R Coll Surg Engl*. 2004 Mar;86[2]:131). In 1984 he married Margaret M L Travers. Hogg died unexpectedly at his home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 2007.
