Gilbert Harry Hinckley was a dental surgeon whose last known address was in Solihull. He was born on 16 October 1920 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. His father, Harry Hinckley, a veteran of the First World War, worked for Hinckley’s iron and steel merchants; his mother was Martha Hinckley née Osborne. Hinckley studied dentistry at the University of Birmingham and qualified in 1943. He joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve as a surgeon lieutenant in September 1943 and continued in the Reserve after the end of the Second World War. He gained his fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1949. In 1952 he married Patricia Prudence Roe. Hinckley died on 24 December 2011 in Solihull. He was 91.
