Apprenticed first at Wragby, Lincolnshire, to Dr William Walls, he entered in 1819 the united St Thomas's and Guy's Hospital, where he attended lectures by Astley Cooper and Henry Cline, junr, following at the same time demonstrations and dissections by Edward Grainger in his rooms in St Saviour's C

Was gazetted Hospital Assistant to the Forces on Dec 1st, 1825, Assistant Surgeon to the 1st Foot on November 16th, 1826, to the 12th Dragoons on Oct 8th, 1830, and to the Coldstream Guards on March 15th, 1838. He was promoted Surgeon to the same on April 14th, 1843, and Surgeon Major on September 2

A son of J B Maurice (qv). He studied at St Thomas's and Guy's Hospitals, and joined his father in practice at Marlborough, where he was Union Medical Officer and Surgeon to the Gaol. He died between November, 1879, and November, 1880.

Practised first at Marlborough Place, London, SW, and then at Dole Llanbadarnfawr, Aberystwith, where he died on December 29th, 1871.

Practised at Oldham, and was certifying Factory Surgeon and Medical Officer of the Oldham District Union. He died at his house in Church Street, Oldham, in 1860.

Born at Redditch in 1796, and in 1806 accompanied his uncle to Birmingham. The latter had been apprenticed to the well-known surgeon, Edmund Hector, of Old Square, the schoolfellow of Samuel Johnson. Thomas Taylor derived his early training from this uncle and from the Birmingham General Hospital,

Came of an Oxford family, and was probably born in Oxford in the year 1802. His brother, George Parsons Hester, was a solicitor and was for many years Town Clerk of Oxford. James was a student at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He was admitted 'Chirurgus Privilegiatus' of the University of Oxford in June

Practised at Chorley and was JP for the County of Lancashire. He retired after 1860 and died in or before 1884.

Studied at St Bartholomew's Hospital and practised at St Giles', Norwich, where he was instrumental in founding, and acted as Surgeon to, what was first termed the Free Hospital for the Hopeless, then the Royal Free Hospital for Incurables. Later, in the fifties, he removed to 4 Onslow Square, Bromp
