Educated at Guy's and St Thomas's Hospitals, Grainger's School, Paris, and Edinburgh. He practised at 24 Park Square, Leeds, where he was Hon Surgeon to the Public Dispensary and to the Fever Hospital. Afterwards he practised at Bridlington Quay, Yorkshire, where he died on December 24th, 1876.

Was of Huguenot descent; he studied at the Hunter Street Academy and at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He then joined in partnership with Holmes, of Everett Street, Russell Square, whose sister he married, and eventually succeeded to the practice. Later he moved to 11 Great Coram Street, then a centre f
